As you know (or may not), our cars come with a proprietary McLaren Li-ion battery that (of course) has some extra connections and your friendly McLaren dealer wants roughly $3K to replace. I don't know about you, but I think that is outrageous. I have a buddy that owns a Li-ion battery manufacturing facility and when I told him about this situation, he said that our batteries should be rebuildable to new for much less than $1K. Because, the Mac battery has an additional connection and some electronics, its not straightforward..... but far from impossible. If anyone has an old battery, we would like to reverse engineer it, take it apart and see what it will take to rebuild. This will be a great help to the community and help all of us keep our cars on the road for a reasonable cost. PM me if you can help.
